User Guide

Everything you need to know

A complete guide to every feature in Traqlio — from adding your first holding to analysing your trading performance.

Getting Started

Installation

Download the installer for your platform from the Download page. On macOS, open the .dmg file and drag Traqlio to your Applications folder. On Windows, run the .exe installer and follow the prompts. Launch Traqlio and you'll be greeted by the Overview screen.

First Launch

On first launch, Traqlio creates a default portfolio called "My Portfolio". The app connects to Yahoo Finance immediately to fetch live prices. No account or API key is required.

Creating a Portfolio

Click the "+" button in the sidebar next to "PORTFOLIOS" and type a name (e.g. "Growth", "Dividend Income", "Retirement"). You can create as many portfolios as you need and switch between them from the sidebar.

Adding Holdings

Manually

Click the blue "+ Add Holding" button at the bottom of the sidebar. Enter the ticker symbol (e.g. AAPL), number of shares, average cost per share, and the date you purchased. Click Add. The holding appears in your Dashboard immediately with a live price.

CSV Import from Yahoo Finance

In Yahoo Finance, go to your portfolio, click Download, and save the CSV. In Traqlio, click "Import CSV" in the sidebar, select the file, and confirm. All holdings from the CSV will be added to the currently selected portfolio. Traqlio uses PapaParse to handle the import with full Yahoo Finance column mapping.

Editing & Deleting Lots

In the Dashboard view, click the ▸ arrow next to any symbol to expand its individual lots. Each lot shows its shares, average cost, and P&L. Click the edit icon to update shares or cost; click the trash icon to remove a lot. Changes take effect immediately.

Dashboard

Overview Cards

At the top of the Dashboard you see four metric cards: Total Value, Day Change (in dollars and percent), Total Gain/Loss, and Total Cost. These update every polling cycle.

Holdings Table

The table lists each unique symbol with its live Price, Change, Shares, Avg Cost, Market Value, and Gain/Loss. Green indicates profit; red indicates loss. Click any row to open the Stock Detail view for that symbol.

Stock Detail

The Stock Detail view shows an interactive candlestick or line chart powered by Lightweight Charts™ (TradingView). Select time ranges from 1D to MAX. Below the chart you'll find fundamental data: P/E ratio, market cap, beta, 52-week high/low, sector, and more sourced from Yahoo Finance.

Performance Tracking

How Snapshots Work

Every time you open Traqlio, the app saves a snapshot of your portfolio's total value for that day. These daily snapshots build your performance history automatically — no manual action required.

Time Range Filters

Use the 1W, 1M, 3M, 6M, 1Y, and ALL buttons to filter the performance chart. The chart line shows the total portfolio value over time.

Benchmark Comparison

Enable the VOO benchmark overlay to compare your portfolio returns against the S&P 500 ETF. The two lines are normalised to the same starting point so performance can be compared directly.

Key Stats

Below the chart you'll see Total Return, Annualised Return, Best Single Day, and Worst Single Day — calculated from your snapshot history.

Portfolio Allocation

By Stock

The Allocation view shows a pie chart and bar chart of each stock's weight as a percentage of your total portfolio value. Hover over slices for exact values.

By Sector & Industry

Traqlio fetches sector and industry data from Yahoo Finance summaries to build the sector breakdown. Switch between Stock, Sector, and Industry views with the tab buttons.

Dividend Tracker

Annual & Monthly Income

The Dividend view calculates your projected annual dividend income based on each holding's dividend rate (sourced from Yahoo Finance) and your share count.

Yield on Cost vs. Current Yield

Yield on Cost is the annual income divided by your total cost basis — useful for measuring the return on what you actually paid. Current Yield is the income divided by today's market value.

Monthly Income Chart

The bar chart approximates your monthly dividend income by distributing annual dividends evenly. Use this to plan expected cashflow.

Watchlist

Adding Symbols

In the Watchlist view, type a ticker symbol into the search box (it uses live debounced search against Yahoo Finance). Click the result to add it. Symbols already in your portfolios are indicated.

Live Data

Each watchlist item shows the current price, daily change, 52-week high, and 52-week low. Prices update on the same polling interval as your portfolios.

News Feed

Portfolio-Filtered News

The News view fetches recent articles from Yahoo Finance filtered to the symbols in your selected portfolio. Articles are sorted by recency and show the headline, publisher, and time.

Filter by Symbol

Use the symbol pill buttons at the top of the News view to filter articles to a specific ticker. Click "All" to see news for every holding.

Trading Journal

Logging a Trade

Go to Trade Log in the sidebar and click "+ New Trade". Fill in the symbol, direction (Long/Short), entry price and date, number of shares, and optionally a stop-loss, take-profit, strategy tag, reasoning, and notes. Click Save Trade.

Closing a Trade

Open the trade detail, enter the exit price and date, and save. Traqlio calculates the P&L automatically. If your chart shows the price crossing your take-profit or stop-loss while the app is running, Traqlio can auto-close the trade.

Chart Annotations

The trade detail view shows an interactive chart for that symbol's timeframe. Use the drawing toolbar to add trendlines, horizontal levels, Fibonacci retracements, rectangles, rays, channels, and text notes. Drawings are saved per trade.

Trade Analytics Dashboard

Go to Trade Analytics in the sidebar to see win rate, total/average P&L, best/worst trade, current win/loss streak, average holding duration, cumulative P&L curve, win/loss doughnut, and P&L by strategy — all filterable by date range and strategy.

Settings

Theme

Choose Light, Dark, or System. The setting persists across restarts and is applied to the native window background to avoid a flash on launch.

Refresh Interval

Set how often Traqlio polls Yahoo Finance: 15 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes, or 5 minutes. The poller automatically slows down during after-hours.

Backup & Restore

Click "Backup Data" to export all portfolios, settings, snapshots, and trades to a JSON file. Click "Restore Data" and select a backup file to replace your current data. Use "Wipe All Data" to reset the app completely.
